The New York Times has an article today, '55 'Origin of Life' Paper is Retracted describing how professor Homer Jacobson publicly retracted statements he made in a 1955 issue of American Scientist about the improbability of the early origin of life. Sign of the times - he Googled his name. What he found though horrified him -- Creationists and anti-evolutionists were regularly using his words to support their cause. He reread his old article, and realized there were some mistakes in it. So he did what he felt was best, publicly corrected the long-ago mistake. The Chronicle of Higher Education blog has a piece on this issue also. Good for Dr. Jacobson!
